Throughout my degree I was involved in several productions, taking on a range of roles. Through this, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of the way that a production team runs and understand the expectations from each department. I have also worked front of house at Derby Theatre throughout my time at University which has given me another perspective on productions. While at university, I was awarded the Dean’s award for my achievement in my studies two years in a row and was also selected to represent the University as a Student Ambassador for the Society of British Theatre Designers. I am delighted to be graduating with a First Class Honours in Technical Theatre.

Throughout the course I had the opportunity to develop a good basic understanding of lighting and sound equipment and I have also developed my WYSIWYG skills as well as AutoCAD and would feel confident understanding and using a ground plan. I have good general IT skills and over the lockdown period, I spent a lot of time teaching myself the Adobe Creative Suite. I now feel confident using Photoshop, Illustrator, Aftereffects and Premiere Pro.

Over the three years I had the opportunity to take on roles such as Lighting Designer, AV designer, Sound Operator, Stage Manager, Assistant Production Manager and most recently, Production Manager. Our final production 'There Is A War' took place in May 2021. As Production Manager I was responsible for co-ordinating much of the planning during both the pre-production and the production process. I held progress and production meetings, and was the direct liaison between the director, designers and the team.
