Summary
The Evolution of Lily Proto…
When applying for freelance opportunities, I feel like everyone’s always interested in my most recent work experience, but my USP is that I’ve been doing this my whole life.
Here’s some of the experience I got BEFORE I grew into my high vis… 🦺
1998 – I was born, my parents were still raving, I was in attendance. Subtle foreshadowing?
2007 – Event Assistant, Kidz Stuff Festival, Age 9. My role included following Michael Blenman around with fencing couplers, signing out radios, laminating accreditation, assisting in Big Top build. High vis jacket reached my knees.
2008 - Event Assistant, Kidz Stuff Festival, Age 10. Reprised my role for a 2nd year running. Still wasn’t paid.
2009 – Event assistant, Kidz Stuff Festival, Age 11. Literally 3 years running and I didn’t make a penny. I even got pied in the face by Stephen Grindle (Dingle Fingle) in the name of Marketing for this one.
2011 – Stage crew, Summer in Abu Dhabi, Aged 13. Role included setting props between performances, firing pyros during show, assisting with load out. Spent a couple of shows watching Nick play space invaders on MA 1.
2012 – Event Assistant, Abu Dhabi Art, Aged 14. Accreditation again. God I love a laminator.
2012 – Event Assistant, Horsham District Council, Aged 14. Role included assisting on various town centre events. Liaising with marketing, H&S, vendors and operations. Running council social media throughout the events. Finally someone paid me!
I guess what I’m trying to convey is that my drive and passion for this industry has been instilled in me since birth (thanks to Adam Proto, Michele Proto), and I don’t see it going anywhere any time soon.
If you’re looking for someone full of passion, drive AND sarcasm like me to fill a gap in your project – get in touch!
